Purveyors of fine wines since 1993

Brian's Blog

Well it's been a while and I confess updating the website has been the last thing I've had time to finish, especially as my host and service provider admits to not consistently providing the speeds necessary, in my location, to use their software. Initially I enjoyed keeping customers up to date myself, for the personal touch, but as this seems almost impossible without a minimum half a day's worth of time and more freezes than a Scottish Winter I'm going to hand the job over to a professional come the New year. As I have no internet shop the focus has been on doing rather than showing but to show what I can offer is paramount and part of my strategy of increasing the Wilks & Co. profile, especially in my core business area of supplying the trade. To this end I sponsored the Essex Life Food & Drink Awards 'Best Restaurant' Category and I continue to show a good part of the portfolio at my high profile annual charity tasting.

That all said I have been very busy keeping the business running smoothly after Peter, my General Manager, retired after many years loyal service. Finding a new General Manager was not an easy task but I'm happy to report Alex, my very knowledgeable, new Manager has settled in very nicely.

Quite few new wines have found their way onto my list and I am importing from two new sources in Rioja. One is from a cooperative in the Baja area and one a grower produced wine from the leading Alta area - you pays your money and takes your choice. Juan de Lecanda from the Alta is launching his wines at the November 2016 portfolio tasting where he will be happy to talk you through his  winemaking philosophy.

The website will only be changed on an irregular basis so please do contact me via the enquiries button if you would like a quote or, if trade, a visit to your establishment.
